Moon, Mammal, Magic is more than an arts-based science curriculum. It is a transformative approach to elementary school community and environmental sensitivity. The community celebrations align with events transpiring in the natural world and connect families to the environment through collective joy and revelry.
The Winter Solstice Unit is a celebration of the changes unfolding in the world around us. Students explore the fascinating world of shadows and create musical instruments to experiment with sound. They hear solstice stories from around the world and wonder about the disappearing daylight. Moon, Mammal, Magic celebrates the darkness with a solstice sing-along occurring right before the holiday break. Families are invited into the classroom to share music and food together.
