Included in this packet are activities to target various speech and language goals including:
Articulation: (page 8) Have students pick out target sounds from reading about Olympic sports (pages 24-27) students draw a card following the correct productions of X amounts of target sounds. The student with the highest score is the winner.
Comprehension and grammatically correct statements: (pages 3-5 & 6) After reading about an Olympic sport, students fill out a graphic organizer about the sport. They can then share this information with group members using grammatically correct sentences.
Sequencing: (Pages 3-5 & 7) After reading about an Olympic sport, students can sequence the steps necessary to complete each sport .
Synonyms: (Pages 9-12) Students take turns matching synonyms by pairing the gold medal with the correct athlete. The student with the most matches at the end is the winner.
Adverbs: (Pages 13-15) Students take turns drawing one athlete with a verb and one medal with an adverb and use the two to make a sentence. They can either do this verbally or on the worksheet provided.
Irregular verbs: (Pages 16-20) Students match the irregular past and present tense verbs. The student with the most matches at the end of the game is the winner.
Multiple Meaning Words: (Pages 21-23) Students pick a card and provide the two different meanings for each word. They can either just provide the multiple meanings or they can also create sentences with both meanings of the word
Open Ended Card Game: (Pages 24-27) This can be used as a reinforcement during the practice of any speech or language activity. After completing the desired task, students draw a card. Whoever has the most points at the end of the game is the winner.
