### PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

These beginning winter logic puzzles are perfect to get your kids thinking after the winter holidays. Teaching primary students to think logically and make inferences can be very difficult, but this packet of 36 logic puzzles is full of fun and engaging Winter themed (no Valentines Day) puzzles to help you do just that! (and have your students doing the kind of thinking assessed on aptitude and achievement tests!) The puzzles are available in color to use in centers or to project for the whole class AND an ink friendly black and white version!

The matrix logic puzzles are perfect for introducing logic problems to students, because it is helpful for them to use a grid or matrix to solve the puzzle. The matrix is basically a graphic organizer to help them organize their thinking while using the visual and verbal clues to solve the puzzles. These puzzles will develop skills in logical thinking, problem solving, making inferences, drawing conclusions, recognizing similarities and differences, and comparing and contrasting. These skills are necessary to develop both mathematical and verbal reasoning.

The puzzles may be used in both whole and small group settings or they may be laminated and placed in a thinking skills center in your classroom! They are great for those early finishers in your classroom. You can even project them on your board and work them together as a whole class for a morning warm-up! There are different levels of difficulty, to provide opportunities to differentiate for the varying ability levels in your classroom.

The matrix logic puzzles begin with 2 X 2 grid puzzles and progress to 4 X 4 grid puzzles; however, once the students are exposed to the puzzles, everyone should be able to complete all of them. I suggest beginning with the easiest puzzles as a group activity to develop practice and confidence in solving matrix logic puzzles.
