Help reinforce number word recognition, with these quick, easy and fun winter-themed matching games.
Simply print, laminate and trim. I keep each set in their own Baggie with a few “pincher” clothespins, then toss the Baggies in a basket which is kept in my math center.
Students pinch and place a clothespin to the number (0-11) that matches the number word on the card.
Pinching clothespins is a great fine motor skill that will help strengthen those finger muscles, plus my kiddos really love doing this.
To make this an independent center, so that students can self-check their work, mark an X on the correct answer on the back of the card; in no time at all, everyone will be recognizing their number sight words.
Students can also pick a partner and play “Speed” to see who will be the first to get all of their clothespins clipped.
I love this center because it’s easy-peasy for me, children enjoy the variety & hands-on practice, plus once I’ve got my sets done, I have something seasonal that I can reuse every year with no more prep. Woo hoo!
So that you can easily program higher numbers, like those “toughie teens”, I’ve also included a blank set of each of the winter graphic cards.
Themed cards include: (Samples in PREVIEW).
* New Years
* Martin Luther King
* Chinese New Year
* Valentines Day
* Washington &

Watch for the spring set coming soon.
I’m Diane from Teach With Me, hoping your students enjoy “pinching & placing” as much as mine do.
