I made this activity to help my kiddos practice with the idea of "in/out" boxes...which use a specific "rule" to connect two numbers. The kiddos must look at each chart/set of in/out boxes, distinguish the connection between the "in" numbers, and "out" numbers. Once they problem solve the "rule", they then work to fill in the missing numbers on the chart. Some of the missing numbers are "in" numbers (which then require the kiddos to work backwards to solve), or "out" numbers. I have made two worksheets, each with 5 in/out boxes. The rules can be addition or subtraction. Hope you enjoy. My kiddos love a "S'mores" theme because they can then color. :)
