Use these barrier games to address speech and language skills with your preschool through fifth grade students. Barrier games are a great activity to address a variety of learning targets, including:
*giving detailed directions
*using describing words
*similarities and differences
This set includes three background scenes as well as over 50 pictures to arrange on the scenes during play. Each piece of this set also comes in a black and white version to allow your students to color and create their own barrier games!
To use: Print and cut apart pictures. Laminate for durability.
To play: Have students sit across from each other. Place a divider of your choosing between the two students so they cannot see each other’s workspace. Each student should get a copy of the same background scene, as well as a set of the same 5-10 small pictures to arrange on the background. One student must provide detailed directions to the second student so they are able to arrange their pictures in the same way. When the directions are finished, remove the barrier and see if the students have their pictures arranged the same way.
