Winter Word Work Activities | Vocabulary Context Clues and Categorizing

Description
When the weather outside is frightful, the learning inside your classroom will still be delightful with this resource that is dedicated to all things related to snow, winter animals, and winter activities!
Materials in this activity pack are designed to boost student vocabulary acquisition and reading comprehension skills. They include:
*ACTIVITY LABEL AND TEACHER TIP CARDS
Instruction cards and literacy center signs are provided for all three
of these activities, and explain how each one can be used as either a whole class lesson or as a learning station.
*WINTER WORD SORT
Students will use 36 picture clue cards to practice classifying and categorizing winter words. This activity provides a great review of singular and collective nouns!
*WINTER WORD SCOOT
Students will read, match, and solve 36 riddles using the picture/word clue cards provided. An answer key is provided for this activity.
*WINTER CONTEXT CLUE PASSAGES
Students will read and complete four short, original stories using the context clues in each sentence, and the word bank provided. They will then re-read the text independently or with a partner using expression, correct pacing, and proper attention to punctuation.
Fluency, decoding, and reading for meaning are the three important target skills embedded in this resource!
