Winter and the holiday season provide a great opportunity to get your students writing about this special time of year.
This Winter Writing Journal contains 30 writing prompts that will inspire your students to imagine, explain, and reflect as they write in their journal. Each journal page includes a section for students to brainstorm and plan their ideas as well as a checklist to review their work. Also included are several cover pages that your students can choose from.
The variety of topics will provide your students with daily opportunities to write in different genres. There are narrative story starters such as "I looked out the frosty window panes and suddenly my snowman came to life!", winter themed "would you rather" questions like "Would you rather have a pet polar bear or a pet penguin?", personal prompts such as "What is your favorite holiday tradition?", and think and explain with questions like "How can you show kindness to others during this holiday season?". (There are a few prompts that are specific to Christmas and Santa but most relate to winter, snow activities, and New Years).
The prompts are formatted to fit the 8 in. by 8 in. Target blank books (so many cute winter themed covers this year!) but can be used with ANY writing journal or writer's notebook. Your students can also create their own writing mini-book with construction paper, card stock, or simply stapling the pages together.
Please let me know if you have any questions! Happy writing and Happy Holidays!
