Winter writing: This resource is built around three winter themes – hot chocolate, snowmen and general winter activities. I always find I’m looking for new writing ideas to use with my students not only during our writing block, but also as homework, work on writing or quick writes. Each theme starts with word bank, and includes at least one topic each for expository, opinion and narrative writing. I included a variety of planning and graphic organizers, as well as paper to be used for a final copy. Most of the organizers are lined and unlined – I find each of my students needs something different. This resource is all about variety – variety in topics, organizers, etc. I did choose to use a similar format for each type
of organizer so students are familiar with the set-up.
Writing ideas are:
Hot Chocolate: (expository) how to make hot chocolate; (opinion) hot chocolate or chocolate milk?, best topping for hot chocolate; (narrative) drinking hot chocolate
Snowmen: (expository) how to build a snowman, the life cycle of a snowman; (opinion) best size for a snowman, does a snowman need a carrot nose?; (narrative) time I built a snowman
Winter Fun: (expository) how to stay warm, how to make a snowball; (opinion) best winter activity; (narrative) a winter day
Take a look at the preview for an idea of what the resource contains - the preview does NOT show everything :-)
