This product includes an original poem about celebrating the end of winter with a spring party to which children bring spring items added to the illustrations one at a time. The poem is included using a traditional one page copy as well as in a "Little Book" format.
This book is well suited for fluency practice using choral reading
or Reader’s Theatre. Although the actual vocabulary is a bit difficult,
most of the text consists of rhyming couplets and a pattern that
begins “I’ll bring” with helpful picture clues, so students are able to
use language cues and memorization through repeated readings
to support their oral reading success. The book is a lot of fun for whole group or guided reading instruction.
The sight word practice is optional, but I have included various
adaptations of the text to support differentiation if you choose to
use the book for “Word Work.” Please read the descriptions in the
table of contents which can be found in the preview.
The preview also features sample pages of the beginning reader and a class book page in which students decide what they “would bring” to the Spring Party described in the text.
