These Colorful Owl Friends are very much like the Famous Color Cats. Those Color Cats were a lot of fun. The Primary Color Cats through paint and created a Secondary Color Cat. Throwing paint, while fun to think about and visualize, it is not practical.
My intention in creating Colorful Owls Friends, was to go beyond the Color Cat Wall Poster and passive learning. I wanted to provide students with a hands-on experience of colors.
These fun and Colorful Owl Friends take the learning experience off the wall and provides a hands-on learning experience. Students can work independently or in groups. Students can assemble the owls, much like simple puzzles.
My favorite mediums for this project are felt and construction paper. I like the felt because it works well with felt boards and it is very easy to explain the activity.
The construction paper is also a favorite for this project because students can take this project a step further. They can match the construction paper to their crayons and mix the primary colors to form secondary colors, to form tertiary colors. The crayons would make this a hands-on which reinforces the learning experience.
I have assembled these Colorful Wise Owls Friends in a PDF which you are welcome to resize as needed. You are welcome to use them with which ever medium you are most comfortable with.
In the end, students will be just as Wise as the Colorful Owl Friends.
