"Wise Owl's First Phonics and First 100 Sight Words - Part 1" has lessons 1 through most of Lesson 18 in it. Each lesson is five pages long and teaches easy first grade phonics and sight words. The phonics section of each lesson presents beginning sounds and printing letters, both capital and small. Rules for when we need to use a capital letter are also presented. The sight word section presents the most basic of sight words, taught at the rate of three words per lesson. There are two stories to read and a page of activities to practice each set of three sight words. The lessons are cumulative and therefore should be taught in order.
The remainder of the lessons, the last page of Lesson 18 plus Lesson 19 through 33, can be found in "Wise Owl's First Phonics and First 100 Sight Words - Part 2." I edited the older version of this workbook and the edited version was too large to upload on TPT, which has a 200 MB limit. I had to split the new edited version into two separate downloads. This new edited version has the same 100 words, as the old version, but the stories are a bit longer and the skills activities have a few more examples than the older version.
There is a free placement test, here at TPT. "Wise Owl's Placement Tests" can help you decide if this workbook is the correct place for your student or group to begin. I strongly suggest downloading the tests and testing first. Prerequisites for success at this level are a knowledge of the alphabet and being able to trace and print letters and words. These skills were taught in the workbook, "Wise Owl's Reading Readiness".
There's a companion book for both part 1 and part 2 called "Wise Owl's First Phonics and First 100 Sight Words Extra Practice", which can be used for students who need a little more exposure to the phonics skills and the sight words. This workbook could also be used as independent practice or homework.
