Product Description
Included in this activity is a PowerPoint with objectives, materials, and instructions for creating a “Wish You Weren’t Here” Postcard. Also included are worksheets providing a double-sided postcard template. On the front of the template, students will draw a color image representing the Indian Removal Act or the Trail of Tears. On the back, students will write a paragraph posing as a member of one of the five tribes forcibly relocated as a result of the Indian Removal Act.

There are three versions of the worksheet attached so that you can show a single video but offer a differentiated product for the diverse learners in your classroom. Worksheets are for students who may fall into one of three categories:
• RED group – labeled (R): emerging English language learners (students working on translating words or simple sentences)
• WHITE group – labeled (W): students requiring modified assignments; expanding English language learners (students working on writing sentences or simple paragraphs)
• BLUE group – labeled (B): students able to complete work at or above grade level; bridging English language learners (students working on writing multiple paragraphs or preparing for reclassification)
