I love teaching the RACES acronym as a tool for students to use to help write organized and complete constructive responses. There are tons of resources online to aid in teaching the acronym to students.
When teaching RACES to my students, I set my constructive response questions in a graphic organizer like the one provided in this resource. The organizer supplies students with visual reminders of the steps in RACES and provides sentence starter to teach students how to write a more effective sentence in a written response.
In order to differentiate for students, you may want to erase/cover the sentence starters for more advanced writers. Also, several constructive response questions are provided in the complete resource. After each question is a number. The higher the number, the more difficult the question is to answer. Use this leveling key as a way to differentiate which question to give to each student.
