This choice-based project is formatted like a tic-tac-toe board, and invites students to select three out of nine options to complete as a concluding project to reading The Witch of Blackbird Pond.
The assignments range from building a diorama to creating a 17th century recipe book. Every iteration of three squares in a row that students can select also includes at least one more traditional writing assignment, such as journal entries or newspaper articles.
My students enjoy getting to select their own activities to complete this project, and yours will, too! This can be assigned at the beginning of the novel, so that students can work on in as they go, or at the very end. This is a Word doc, so you can edit it as you need to. A rubric is included.
