This super fun unit uses excerpts from Frank Baum's Wonderful Wizard of Oz novel and the movie inspired by the novel to teach students the elements of literature....setting, all aspects of plot development, foreshadowing, personification, theme and more. Unit is divided into six settings....Kansas, Munchkinland, Yellow Brick Road, Haunted Forest, Emerald City, and back to Kansas. An online version of the novel is provided as well as detailed teacher guide, all necessary worksheets and online activities. Each lesson includes a reading activity followed interactive slides, games, videos, and more to teach the terms of the day. Also included is a movie response sheet for each lesson. Students complete the sheet as they search for examples of plot development, foreshadowing, and other elements as they are evidenced. Students will enjoy experiencing the "magic of words" as they realize how Frank Baum's masterful use of the English language and the elements of literature inspired the beloved movie classic as well as a myriad of spin off songs, stories, stage musicals and other products. Unit can be shared with students or presented by teacher.
