If you have a Lit class without a theme, especially an advanced class with a lot of females, this download might provide some inspiration. It gives students three paper options and one video option (with A Doll's House but could work with other stories). The papers deal with women as objects, marriage, and prison. Some students might combine all three ideas, but that's not necessarily the goal.
Mostly, it's the books used in the class that allow for the connections to work. Here's the initial list of related stories: A Doll’s House, Pride and Prejudice, A Jury of her Peers, House on Mango Street, The Bet, The Quiet Man, and other short stories.
To this list, I add others that I used as examples in class for students to use, like the scene in Transformers when Megan Fox becomes an object right next to the car. Maybe 10 tie-iins I alluded to , but the point is for students to find them.
