This unit was designed specifically for New Zealand schools Level 2 and the NCEA qualifications, but it can be adapted to suit.
In this very exciting and interesting unit, students will be reading and analysing short stories from four very prominent writers: Mary Shelley, Flannery OConnor, Katherine Mansfield and Patricia Grace.
They will discuss the elements of the short story genre and then will analyse the themes, plots, settings, characters and language features of these stories. After reading each of the stories, students are to complete the worksheets that follow. This unit will help to prepare students for external exam AS90378 Eng 2.4 "Analyse short written texts".
