Welcome to Art Bursts! A simple way to incorporate art history into the classroom.
This lesson is an Art Burst - Museum edition. Students will observe, discuss, and learn about a famous artist. An Art Burst - Museum lesson focuses on a famous work of art and provides discussion questions to help students become critical thinkers and gain confidence in expression of ideas.
In this case, Barbara Hepworth and her sculptures will be highlighted for Women's History Month.
This lesson includes an 8 page powerpoint presentation with the following:
-An overview of the highlighted artist
-An art word of the day
-Digital images of her sculptures
-Thought provoking discussion questions
-Suggestions for extending lesson
The power point/discussion takes about 30 minutes.

Art Bursts - Museum lessons can also be supported as an International Baccalaureate lesson.Through discussion of the artwork, students are encouraged to think critically and challenge assumptions.
