Product Description
Women’s History: Achievers 32 Graphic Organizers was designed for use by Social Studies/History teachers - while it is a great resource for Women’s History Month, it can, of course, be used at any time of the school year.

The following individuals are included: Amelia Earhart, Anne Frank, Benazir Bhutto, Betty Friedan, Boudicca, Catherine the Great, Celine Dion, Eleanor Roosevelt, Elizabeth I, Elizabeth II, Emily Dickinson, Evonne Goolagong, Florence Nightingale, Harriet Tubman, Helen Keller, Indira Gandhi, Jane Goodall, J.K. Rowling, Joanne Liu, L.M. Montgomery, Malala Yousafzai, Marie Curie, Mary Anning, Mary Casatt, Oprah Winfrey, Sacagawea, Sirimavo Bandaranaike, Susan B. Anthony, Temple Grandin, Mother Teresa, Queen Victoria, and Wilma Rudolph. There is also a blank template for students to add their own subjects. A second copy of the 32 organizers is included without the page numbers (provided in case teachers do not want to use all the individuals).

The organizers are designed for students to do general research on each person. They will need access to the Internet in most cases and may find some books helpful. Students should be able to find everything they need from www.biography.com but there is no reason they cannot use other sources as well, such as www.history.com and www.britannica.com. There are also reputable websites about many of the subjects.

The organizers can be used as a group activity (or one could be assigned to each student), or could be completed as an independent study. Students may pick and choose, or be assigned subjects by you. One organizer can be used to begin a larger project. Completed organizers can be displayed on a bulletin board.

I chose the 33 subjects from a variety of fields and nationalities/ethnicities and I hope the representation is fair, if not complete! I decided to limit figures from entertainment to two people (Celine Dion and Oprah Winfrey) and sports to two (Evonne Goolagong and Wilma Rudolph). The other fields included are art, activism, writing, science and medicine, tribal and political leadership, religion, aviation, and exploration. There are notable achievers from different periods in history from ancient times to today (9 living women are repesented).

Answer keys are included for the factual portion of the graphic organizers. The answer keys are only meant as a guideline, you way accept more, less, or other information from your students.
