Women's History Month takes place in March each year. Women's History Month takes place in March each year. As a way for students get a break from the Spring test-prep and still have a meaningful assignments and projects to do, I came up with a home-based research project as well as a school-based one, that will hit ELA, Science, Social Studies, Research, and Speaking & Listening standards!

The first project is the Women's History Month Interview Project. This includes everything you will need for a quick, high-interest, home-based research project for Women’s History Month. There is a full page of directions with a typed introduction and very detailed descriptions of what each child needs to research or find out, a blank line for editable due dates, a detailed grading rubric (adding up to 100 points), & a page of Teacher Tips to help you implement this with your class. All pages are designed in black-line (b/w) for printing and photocopying ease! Students will interview someone in their life (that meets the criteria in the directions) and find out about how her life has been impacted by being a woman in a world where women are often treated differently than men. It allows students to not only learn about their families and the people in their lives, but to make learning about women’s history a little more personal.

The second project is where students will research women that have made an impact in heavily male-dominated science fields. This includes everything you will need for a quick, high-interest, class-based research project for Women’s History Month focusing on Women in Science-related fields (ex: doctors, astronauts, mathematicians, etc.). There is a full page of teacher tips and directions, a list of suggested Influential Women in Science, a sample page to show students what is expected, a blank template for you to run off for each student, and a grading rubric (adding up to 50 points). All pages are designed in black-line (b/w) for printing and photocopying ease! A filled out sample banner page is included.
