Product Description
Celebrate Women’s History Month by teaching your students about the accomplishments of these notable, diverse, inspirational women.

Included are:

• 30 Task Cards
• Student Questions/Answers Sheets
• Answer Key (See Preview for sample page)
• PowerPoint Presentation (.pdf format)

With time at such a premium, including Women’s History in your Social Studies instruction sometimes becomes just too much to fit into our already busy days, especially if it is not part of your Social Studies curriculum. But Not Anymore! You can use these cards in so many ways! Use them as part of a Literacy Center for ILA, as a Classroom Scavenger Hunt in Social Studies, as a Morning Challenge for a cross-curricular activity, for early finishers, play SKOOT! or save it for Sub Plans!

If you’re lucky enough to have Schoology, simply upload the Task Cards to Schoology and make this a technology-based assignment. Introduce the assignment in the beginning of the month, with a due date at the end of the month. If you don’t have Schoology, Google Slides works the same way. Print out the recording sheet, and have them handy for whenever or however you choose to use them. No prep necessary, answer key included.

Also included is a PowerPoint Presentation (.pdf format) with a photograph/illustration and abbreviated biography and/or facts of each of these extraordinary women represented in the task cards. I use this presentation as either an Introductory or Culminating Activity before or after using the Task Cards. Through the PowerPoint Presentation, students can discuss and/or ask questions that spark some great discussions about these famous women. It also provides an avenue to dig deeper, and perhaps extend the activity to a more comprehensive research project. If you already have a Women’s History Month Unit, this makes a very nice supplemental activity!

Task Cards and PowerPoint Presentation (.pdf format) include biographies and information on the following influential women:

o Susan B. Anthony
o Dr. Virginia Apgar
o Clara Barton
o Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell
o Hillary Rodham Clinton
o Marie Curie
o Diana, Princess of Wales
o Dorothea Dix
o Amelia Earhart
o Dian Fossey
o Anne Frank
o Gabrielle Giffords
o Helen Keller
o Billie Jean King
o Maya Ying Lin
o Christa McAuliffe
o Toni Morrison
o Mother Teresa
o Annie Oakley
o Michelle Obama
o Sandra Day O’Connor
o Georgia O’Keeffe
o Pocahontas
o Queen Elizabeth II
o Sally Ride
o Wilma Rudolph
o Sacagawea
o Sheryl Sandberg
o Oprah Winfrey
o Malala Yousafzai

If you’re not using these cards electronically, simply print out the cards, cut, and laminate. I mount each card on to cardstock or construction paper before laminating to make them extra sturdy and colorful. They can be easily stored on binder rings, in baggies, or in a folder with the Question/Answer Sheets. No Color Printer? No Problem! Students have just as much fun working with the cards when they are printed in grayscale. In fact, printing them in grayscale makes them just a bit more difficult to find during the Scavenger Hunt, and can easily be stapled into a packet for those early finishers. Saves a lot of ink, too!
