The 2017 Women's March on Washington drew attention to many current issues!
This PowerPoint Presentation provides students with a positive perspective of the Women’s March on Washington on January 21, 2017.
An embedded video from CNN begins the presentation with a look at the women gathering to begin the March and commentary on the positive mood of the crowd and discussion of similar marches occurring around the country.
There is also an interview with two of the March’s coordinators.
What follows is discussion of the march with quoted material from NPR online featuring two Georgetown University professors’ observations about historical marches on Washington, their effect, and what’s necessary to effect change through protest.
Information about the March’s mission and goals is taken directly from the official website.
There’s significant discussion about the “Kingian” nature of the event—a focus on the need for a non-violent approach to effecting change in government and society.

This is a very positive presentation.
It encourages civic responsibility and positive participation in the political and governmental process of the US.
There is no president bashing.
Although Mr. Trump is mentioned, the speaker indicates that the March is about something much larger than his election and presidency.
