Product Description
The 2017 Women's March on Washington drew attention to many current issues!

This PowerPoint Presentation provides students with a positive perspective of the Women’s March on Washington on January 21, 2017.

An embedded video from CNN begins the presentation with a look at the women gathering to begin the March and commentary on the positive mood of the crowd and discussion of similar marches occurring around the country.

There is also an interview with two of the March’s coordinators.

What follows is discussion of the march with quoted material from NPR online featuring two Georgetown University professors’ observations about historical marches on Washington, their effect, and what’s necessary to effect change through protest.

Information about the March’s mission and goals is taken directly from the official website.

There’s significant discussion about the “Kingian” nature of the event—a focus on the need for a non-violent approach to effecting change in government and society.

The specific goals of the Marchers are listed one per slide:

---End Violence
---Reproductive Rights
---LGBTQUIA Rights
---Workers’ Rights
---Civil Rights
---Rights for People with Disabilities
---Immigrants’ Rights
---Environmental Awareness and Protection

There is one slide devoted to the Youth Initiative, what young people can do to support the cause.

There are a total of 33 slides.

There are a total of 4 embedded videos;
---the opener from CNN,
---an introduction to the co-founders of the March,
---a brief message about the mission of the organizers, and
---a speech and brief song by Alecia Keys at the end of the presentation.

This is a very positive presentation.

It encourages civic responsibility and positive participation in the political and governmental process of the US.

There is no president bashing.

Although Mr. Trump is mentioned, the speaker indicates that the March is about something much larger than his election and presidency.

Slides are attractive.

Font is clear.

Thank you so much for your consideration of this product.

If you do decide to purchase it, I hope that your students are moved by this incredible show of patriotism and dedication to the future of their country.
