The goal of this pack is to help your grade 4-6 students learn the main women and men who fought in the Women’s Rights Movement and the events leading up to the 19th Amendment.
Topics Include: suffrage, women’s injustices, the groundbreaking newspaper The Revolution, The Declaration of Sentiments, picketing, and the difficulties faced in order to pass the 19th Amendment.
-A 20 speaking part reader’s theater with historical figures Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, Lucretia Mott, Mary Ann McClintock, Frederick Douglas, Lucy Stone, Carrie Chapman Catt, Ida B. Wells, John Allan Campbell, Alice Paul, Lucy Burns, Woodrow Wilson, and Henry Blackwell. There are a variety of speaking parts in order to accommodate your higher and lower level readers.
-The March to Women’s Rights Board Game where students compete with each other on their knowledge of the Women’s Rights Movement in order to pass the 19th Amendment first.
-Designing a page in Elizabeth Cady Stanton’s and Susan’s B Anthony’s pioneering newspaper The Revolution.
-Creating an Instagram account for a historical suffragist.
-Tic Tac Toe Show What You Know Project where students select three projects to complete to show their knowledge of the Women’s Rights Movement. Projects are designed to excite all learning styles: kinesthetic, tactual, visual, auditory, musical, reading and writing.
-Puzzle Activity where students match each person to their accomplishments.
