Students are so moved by R.J. Palacio's debut novel, Wonder. Among the novel's most inspiring features are Mr. Brown's precepts or "words to live by."
This project asks students to come up with their own precepts during the first week of school. Students will record and define their chosen precept on a self-addressed postcard. During the last week of school, mail the postcards. Once students have received their cards, you can initiate a discussion about whether students were able to live by their precepts.
This is a great way to begin and end the school year!
