This is a post-reading activity for high-ability students in grades 4-7 for the novel, Wonder. Students select a character who doesn't have his or her own chapter in the book, and write a chapter just for him or her. The focus is on using voice to enhance one's writing. Students are to create word maps prior to writing. This includes a simple writing assessment. In the past, I've put all of my students' chapters in a class book, and given one to the librarian, who puts it next to Wonder in our LMC.
