This is a 35 page novel study. It include before, during, and after reading activities. The link to the book trailer is included. Each section of the book is narrated by a different character, so I created comprehension questions that align with each section. In addition, each of the 13 sections had evidence statements for students to use as sentence starters, character analysis questions, and perspective questions. The end of the unit has several culminating writing projects to choose from. There are also additional resources included to guide further discussion.
Wonder is the story of August (Auggie), a boy born with a facial disfigurement who is attending school for the first time. The story is told from various perspectives, offering insight into each character. This novel teaches kindness, empathy, and understanding.
***I would highly recommend pairing this text with Firegirl by Tony Abbott. There are many overlapping theme and connections for students to make.
