The first time I read Wonder I knew that my students needed to meet Auggie! His story is inspirational and my students had so much to learn from this special character. This novel study dives deep into the common core standards while still engaging the students in conversation about the novel.
This year was my first year teaching strictly with novels. I used the Socratic Seminar format with all my lessons and the students LOVED it! I loved taking a step back and listening to their conversations even more.
Towards the end of the year, our principal bought us Jennifer Serravallo's The Reading Strategies Book, and let me tell you, I wished the school year wouldn't have ended. I got to use this amazing book of strategies for a couple lessons and I was absolutely hooked. I've included suggested strategy lessons to supplement the Wonder lesson of the day.
In this unit, you will find everything you need to successfully lead your students though this WONDERful book. You will find:
1. Instructions for using this resource
2. More information about vocabulary and Socratic Seminars
3. 25 engaging lessons
5. Supplement activity materials
I hope you love Wonder and this resource as much as I do!
