What are my recommendations for use in your classroom?

    COMPREHENSION TESTS

    PRINTABLE VERSIONS

◾ These documents have been set up for double-sided printing. Any blank pages in the documents were added intentionally to make double-sided printing easy.

◾ You can choose whether you want to allow your students to use their Wonder books while they take the tests. You can allow them to use their books for the whole test, to use their books for the extended response question only, or to use it as an accommodation only for students whose IEPs and/or 504 plans dictate this accommodation.

◾ You may fill in the blanks next to the directions in each section with point values for the questions in each section.

    FILLABLE PDF VERSIONS

◾ You can alter the student instructions in the editable PDF. Then, you can export the PowerPoint file to a PDF so that you can send it to your students (via email, Google Classroom, etc.).

◾ The comprehension test includes fillable text boxes in each of the four sections for you to type in how many points the questions in each section are worth. You can type in those numeric values and save the PDF before assigning it to students.

◾ There are also fillable text boxes for students' names, the date, and the class period (if applicable). You can fill in the name text box for each student before sending out the test, if you like, but that will add more work in individually assigning each personalized copy of the PDF to each student.

◾ Assign the comprehension test to students via email, Google Classroom, or whatever Learning Management System (LMS) your school/district uses.

◾ You will need to manually grade the completed PDF tests.

    CREATIVE WRITING CHAPTER EXTENSION PROJECT

    PRINTABLE VERSION

◾ This document has been set up for double-sided printing. Any blank pages in the document were added intentionally to make double-sided printing easy.

◾ I explain detailed suggested instructions inside the document on the Teacher Instructions pages. However, I recommend that this project be assigned as a summative assessment after reading the entire novel.

◾ Students will be tasked with choosing a character whose perspective wasn't shared in the novel and writing a chapter extension to the book from that character's perspective. I recommend having students write rough drafts, peer or teacher editing the rough drafts, and having students write their final copies after fixing errors found in the editing process. Specific instructions/recommendations for length, plot, inferences, and more are explained in detail in the student overview sheet and the project rubric.

    FILLABLE PDF VERSION

◾ You can alter the student instructions in the editable PDF. Then, you can export the PowerPoint file to a PDF so that you can send it to your students (via email, Google Classroom, etc.).

◾ The student-facing pages include text boxes that students can type into for their brainstorming, rough drafts, and final copies. Most of these text boxes have been enabled with multiple lines (single spacing) and scrolling.

◾ There are also fillable text boxes for students' names, the date, and the class period (if applicable). You can fill in the name text box for each student before sending out the test, if you like, but that will add more work in individually assigning each personalized copy of the PDF to each student.

◾ Assign the project to students via email, Google Classroom, or whatever Learning Management System (LMS) your school/district uses.

◾ You will need to manually grade the completed PDF projects.
