Included are 4 pre-reading activities to get students interested in and curious about "Wonder." All four activities require the students to analyze, predict and write. Activity 1 asks students to analyze 2 quotes from the novel and make predictions about the book. Activity 2 uses the word "wonder" and dictionary definition to help students work in groups to draw inferences and make predictions. Activity 3 has students analyze many quotes from the novel and discuss why they would agree/disagree with them. Activity 4 has the students consider the same story being told from different points of view by thinking and writing about their first day of 5th grade/middle school. These lessons are easily adaptable and require little to no teacher prep. They can be used as in-class introduction materials or homework. My students love how these activities are "open to interpretation" and they are free to make their own inferences.
