Have the students part of the story, be physically engaged and allow them to creatively take part.
ChiChi the Dragon is the first story from the booklet Around the World, which is all part of Wonderland - Interactive Storytelling.
What is Wonderland?
Wonderland is an interactive story program that develops a child’s social, listening and communication skills while building their self esteem. Wonderland draws out their intuitive ability through the framework that you as the facilitator/teacher provide.
Wonderland is a fun and imaginative journey that allows each child to grow and develop
confidence in their social and creative potential!
What was my experience?
While I ran and developed this program, one of the things that stood out to me was the way the students developed through Wonderland. Throughout the term I noticed how the shy and introverted students began to come out of their shell, grow in confidence and with that also become bolder. In comparison, the students that always wanted to be centre of attention calmed down and became part of the group. For the students it was about the story and as a result they began to take risks, listen to each other, creatively think on the spot, express themselves and work together. Wonderland taught the students how stories develop and they soon began to create their own stories with their puppets that they made in each session.
