This is a bundle of Vocabulary Activities that correlate with all of the stories found in Unit Two of the McGraw Hill, Wonders Reading Series. The stories included are: Who Wrote the U.S. Constitution, Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, Blancaflor, The Boy Who Drew Birds, and Stage Fright.
By purchasing this bundle, you will be receiving a vocabulary organizer, vocabulary review sheet, vocabulary word cards, and a spelling activity sheet for each story. A variety of strategies and skills will be assessed through these activities. Students will be required to write an original definition, draw a picture to represent each term, and write a synonym and antonym for each term. The vocabulary review sheet will test your students on the meaning of the term. They will also be required to complete comprehension questions from the story using the terms or complete analogies with the terms. An added bonus are the spelling sheets that are included. Students will be required to complete original sentences with the words by creating one of each of the four sentence types. A word sort, A,B,C, or Z,Y,X, order are included, identifying parts of speech and a variety of figurative language activities are included on these spelling sheets.
Overall, this is a great way to ensure that your students grasp a clear understanding of the vocabulary terms. An excellent strategy to incorporate, is to display the vocabulary organizer and complete as a class, while keeping the students engaged in academic conversation. By the end of the lesson, your students should have a good foundation for understanding the terms.
I also have lesson plan bundles for each of these stories.
