Are you and your students tired of the same old vocabulary activities - definitions, matching, etc.? These activities and games will promote creative thinking, cooperation, and active discussion, while really learning what the vocabulary words mean to them.
This unit contains all the materials you need for 15 fun and engaging vocabulary activities to go with the McGraw-Hill Wonders Reading Series -Fourth Grade, Unit 3. There are three games/activities for each of the 5 selections that make up the unit.
1. There is an activity page that can be completed independently. It includes high interest activities using different modes of learning.
2. There are pages to use for a pair/small group cooperative thinking and discussion activity called "We'd Rather". The students will have to discuss 8 statements that incorporate the vocabulary words, and rank them from what they’d like most to what they’d like least. Some of the statements are serious, some are funny, but they all will promote thinking, discussion, and learning.
3. Then there are pages to cut out word cards to play the musical/movement game "Vocabulary 8 Corners"
These super fun, kid-tested activities require very little preparation or reproduction and students really like them.
