Each week, children will focus on a writing trait. After analyzing an expert and student model from their McGraw Hill Reading and Writing Workshop text, children will draft and revise shorter writing entries in their writer’ notebook applying the trait to their writing.
There is a Day 1 writing prompt page that focuses on the specific writing trait, a Day 2 page that is for revising Day 1's work, a Day 3 page with a new prompt, and a Day 4 page for revision of Day 3's work. These 4 days worth of writing are provided for each week in each unit. The students have an opportunity to look back at their writing from the day before and make additions and revisions as needed.
In this packet , you will find the writing prompts provided by McGraw Hill Wonders Reading Program in a way that can be put together in a binder or packet for each week of each unit. *I have included both dashed line paper or regular lined paper for differentiated instruction. The pages are designed so that their draft page can be placed along side their revision page. All of their practice writing can be kept all together in their “writing binders”. Copy the pages back to back to save paper!
