I created this resource because my students were not getting enough practice with their sight words in the classroom. It is really hard to squeeze it in during my packed day! I use the 2nd grade Wonders curriculum and they have 300 sight words that students need to know by the end of year…Yikes!!
I have broken down each Unit (1-6) into 15 levels with 20 sight words on each list. I use them by stapling them to my ELA/Math homework packet on Monday and having students check off each day that they practice at home. I then quickly bring each student back on Friday and test whatever level they are on. Once they get into the routine, it doesn't take much time at all. I print out the assessment sheet at the end (3 pages per student) to check their progress throughout the year and highlight each word as they master it. I have included a parent letter that explains the process for them (This is editable for you).
You may use these lists however you see fit in your room, even if you don't use Wonders! I have also used these lists in my word work centers to use with different activities.
