OVERVIEW:

This resource was created to supplement the Reading Wonders vocabulary and vocabulary strategy sections. Students will be asked to learn, define, use, and apply their knowledge of vocabulary and vocabulary strategies.

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

8 Vocabulary Card: There are eight vocabulary cards included in this resource. Each card contains the word, its part of speech, and its definition.

Daily Activities: There is an activity for students to work on each day. For a detailed look at each activity, please read below.

Monday - Learn the Words: Students will define each word, identify its part of speech, and determine how many syllables are in the word.

Tuesday - Word Association: Students will determine which vocabulary words matches each sentence and explain why.

Wednesday - Shades of Meaning: Students will determine which of eight words are "most like privilege" and "least like privilege" by ranking them. They will need to justify at least two of their rankings.

  • Word Cards: 10 words cards that have been included for this activity to be used in a reading center.

Thursday - Latin Roots: Students will determine the meaning of each Latin root, identify related words to that root, and use one related word in a sentence.

  • 15 Puzzles: 15 puzzles have been included for additional practice of Latin Roots.

  • Anchor Chart: An anchor chart has been included that introduces students to the idea of Latin Roots. Both a black and white and color version is included.

Friday - Show What You Know: Students will show what they know about each vocabulary word by taking a short eight question quiz. This quiz comes in black and white, color, and a Google Forms version.

Vocabulary Challenge: There is a vocabulary challenge included in this resource where students can be divided into teams to find their vocabulary words. Each time they find a vocabulary word (in their reading, on a sign, etc) they earn a point for their team.

3 Daily Activity Options: Within this resource, you will find a black and white version of the daily activities, a colored version, and a Google Slides/Forms version.

Answer Keys: An answer key is included for each daily activity.
