Product Description

Objective: (CTE CA Health and Safety 6.3) Students will become familiar with their work area, or shop, to avoid potential health concerns and safety hazards, including but not limited to electrical (shock), wires (tripping), fumes (lung health), noise (hearing loss), fire (burns), and so forth, incorporating ergonomics.

Teacher Tip:

1. Show Woodshop Safety PPT

2. Use this handout as a review activity (i.e. Check for Understanding)

3. Unplug all the power machinery first and foremost before you start the activity (so the kids don't accidentally turn on machinery)

4. As the students go around, allow them to have the freedom to explore (open drawers etc.) The more familiar your students are about the shop, the more efficient you can run it.

5. Use the back side of this handout to help the students review and apply the safety colors associated with a working mechanics shop.
