Looking for ways to teach about the woodwind family? Doing a unit on the instruments of the orchestra and/or instrument families? I have found this slideshow very helpful in my own classroom. It includes:
*A title page
*A page asking students how woodwind instruments create sound (the next page has the answer)
*An informational page about each of the following instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe, and Bassoon. Each page includes information and history about the instrument as well as a sound clip or a link to a YouTube video showcasing that particular instrument.
*An informational page about woodwind quartets: includes history, information, and a link to video of a woodwind quartet
*A review slide, asking students how woodwind instruments create sound, and which other instruments in the woodwind family they can think of.
*Directions (including suggestions for using YouTube.)
Note: This is a PDF, but can be viewed just like a Powerpoint by going to "view," then "full screen."
