Word Biography Phonological Awareness Warm Up (Up to 4 Syllables)

Description
Appropriate for learners who are comfortable counting up to 4 sounds and up to 4 syllables, and are families with prefixes, suffixes, and base words.
Directions: Write the word on the yellow line. Students will color in the vowels they see in the word, the number of vowel SOUNDS in the word, and the number of syllables in the word. (Students will realize over time that the number of vowel sounds and number of syllables are always the same!) Then they'll produce a rhyming word, and write the prefix, suffix, and base/root (as applicable). Finally, they will re-write the word in syllable boxes, with vowel sounds in red.
This printable is suitable for a class activity, a Center, homework, or a test. It is perfect for dyslexics but will benefit all learners.
**Recommendation**: Laminate this sheet for daily use and supply students with skinny dry erase markers so they don't run out of room when writing in the boxes.
