I am a huge fan of word building in my special education setting. It offers struggling readers a multi-sensory approach to acquiring phonetic skills necessary to be successful readers. I enjoy these folders as the sound cards are Post-it Sticky Notes, and once they become tattered and used, they are replaced quickly, easily, and inexpensively. Plus, no more searching for the sound cards you need for each lesson! I will copy off lessons from one of my phonics teaching manuals and place the corresponding lessons in the folder.
To use the word building folder you will need a letter size manila folder and 1.5" x 2" sticky notes.
Check back for future folders to build your remedial reading or classroom set!
