A fun way to review or introduce word-choice topics including avoiding repetition, vague pronouns, dull words, clichés, and “be” verbs, and more. It's a great activity for test prep and review, holidays, the last day or week of school, or other filler days.
"Word-Choice Gladiators" is a fun, interactive way for students to review word-choice strategies. In the game, students will play in teams to identify and revise problems with word-choice and vocabulary.
This is intended to be used as a competitive test-prep game show, but it could also be used as a great back-to-school activity: a fun way to evaluate where your students' punctuation skills stand.
This PowerPoint game has over sixty possible questions, complete with hundreds of fun, interactive animations, sound clips, and navigation buttons. NOTE that there is one font you will need to install to get the game to look like the preview pictures, which only takes a few seconds. Also, there is an odd glitch with PowerPoint 2010 that will make a few of the menu animations malfunction occasionally. But that will not prevent the game play from working the way it should.
This game is just one in a series of fun test-prep review games. Check out the others:
