This no prep Word Choice Powerpoint guides students through what Word Choice is with examples on how to use strong verbs and adjectives. It includes a stretching words activity that you can do together. Then students are asked to apply what they have learned by looking at one of their essays and revising it, looking specifically at their Word Choice.
This Powerpoint includes a "Said is Dead" handout as well as a Common Errors in Writing poster that students can use to strengthen their writing during the revision process.
This is a fun activity to incorporate around Halloween. I distributed highlighters and played spooky music when I did this. Students highlighted their "dead" words and stretched them to make their writing stronger.
