We have all did a "Making Words Activity", but they are usually based on a thematic word without any sequence of skills. "Word Detectives Make and Add Words" are structured to allow students to progress through phonics in a sequential manner. It also allows the integration of math and language arts common core standards into one activity. The phonics skill and First grade common core standards are listed on the top of each activity. The phonics skills progress from kindergarten through second grade.
Included in this purchase:
* There are 39 systematic sequential phonics making words activities based on the Common Core and research from the National Reading Panel.
* There are 39 answer keys showing words that follow the phonics skill. I have students make these words first, then focus on other words they can make with the provided lesson.
* There is one set of large pocket chart tiles. I use these when doing the lesson and when students practice in a math and/or literacy station. Students only cut out the letters at the bottom of the paper when I use it for homework.
This can be used alone, or with any word study program, GUIDED READING, or for interventions for RTI. It goes perfectly with my Racing to Read Program on TPT.
