This game is based on the 2nd grade Word Wall Words from Carson Dellosa (but can be used as review in 3rd grade or for higher readers in first grade.) We use Word Wall Endings as part of our Word Wall Phonics segment, so if the student knows how to spell one word, they should know how to spell another word based on the same ending. In the same sense, it is similar to finding rhyming words with the same spelling pattern. Cut out the tops and bottoms of the cupcakes. Students will match the top of the cupcake to the bottom of the cupcakes. Once the cupcakes are matched, they fill out the worksheet “If I can spell ___, then I can spell ____” I have also found this worksheet helpful in general classroom use without the game as a review of word endings. I made a few different copies of the worksheet, because I never know which one I want to use. My kids think I’m nuts! I hope you enjoy!
