This PowerPoint slideshow of the most word family endings was created by Carrie Sutton for her Grade 1 and 2 emergent readers. The students love the lively pace (each slide is set for a 3 second view) and this can actually be a brain break as they can get quite loud! Open and set to slideshow, from beginning, for a new and effortless way to do flash cards on your interactive white board with your whole class. (Feel free to switch the order of the slides as some children will get to know them and say the word before the slide appears.)
I also order the slides in the order I teach the word family. After a word family has been taught, it’s a great way to review what we’ve covered. When we get to new word endings, I simply close the file.
