This pack is a great resource to use all year long to help your students practice identifying, reading, and writing CVC words, with a word families focus. It will provide your students with several opportunities to practice and show their knowledge and understanding of word families. These activities are great for literacy centers, guided reading word work and whole group writing/word practice. The word families can be introduced each time with the anchor card/mini poster before beginning each word family journal page. In the journals, students will be practicing listening to word family words and then writing those words based on their knowledge of the sounds in the word family being studied. There are 25 word families (5 for each short vowel) included in this pack, so the word family journal can be used for several weeks as you introduce and practice each word family. Students will then practice their knowledge of the word families in the various literacy center activities. There is a recording sheet for each center also included so that you know what your students are doing while in their centers. Some of the printables and literacy centers are separated by short vowel word family, so they will also be good practice throughout the weeks as you introduce and practice each word family. This pack will certainly keep your students engaged with word families!
