This is a set of 66 convenient task cards using pictures and letters to give students practice with changing the initial letter(s) in words and adding a new initial letter to make a new word. This kind of practice will absolutely allow your students to achieve more reading success.
Cards are sized four to a page, and use images to indicate the initial word, in a math-like formula of deleting the first sound, adding a new sound, and asking students to provide the new word. An answer key is provided.
These task cards can be placed at a literacy center, used by students individually, or used by you as a simple assessment measure. They are easy to use, the format provides a consistent structure to the task, and the skill involved is a proven measure of decoding success.
