This pack consists of about 120 Word Wall cards that highlight important word families, blends and digraphs.
I use these cards in three ways:
1. I print and display as a Word Wall. The letters are big enough to be seen anywhere in the classroom. Students use these to help with spelling when writing. I also use them during mini-lessons based around spelling by analogy.
2. I print half size (2 sheets on one page in my printer settings), laminate and add to a plastic ring. I (or my teacher aide) go through the sounds in reading groups prior to reading.
3. I also have the students write words that contain a spelling pattern/s on mini-whiteboards or with materials during Word Work activities. This is usually a partner activity where I put out 4 cards that we've focused on recently. The kids lay them out face up. One of the pair says a word and the other writes the word, using the cards to help with spelling if needed. Swap roles. I like this activity because they have to think of words with the sound AND spell it. For younger kids you could give them a list of words to read from.
A great reading and spelling resource!
I've included headers as per the preview picture on the right.
Each of the word families, blends and digraph cards have a different colored border to make each easily distinguishable from the others.
