This word family book contains 38 of the most common rimes (word families) according to Edward Fry. If you search around you will find other “most common rimes” lists, but I just went with this one! Follow the printing instructions, staple in the middle, and voila … a nice little book for you and your students.
While practicing onset and rime is generally under phonemic awareness instruction, students in the primary grades are writing and reading these types of words. This book offers practice with writing and reading words with common rimes. There is a place to write up to 5 words for each word family. You can use this as an independent activity, practice of learned rimes, as an activity for introducing rimes, or even an assessment after instruction. Students can keep this handy when working on writing, too!
Please let me know if I can accommodate you any further with using the book!
