Use these dice games as a fun way to practice beginning sounds and word families.
You could use them as a center or in a small group or for partner work or independent work. They could even be used as fun homework assignment.
Students will roll the dice and then answer the question posed by the game.
If you use these as a center, you may want to copy the answers onto the back of the dice games. Then they would be self-checking.
Print out copies of the recording sheet for each student. They will need one copy for each game they play. If this is at a center, you could laminate the recording sheets or put them in a sleeve.
Games include the following word families
Ug, um, uck, ump, unk, up, ut, ude, use, ute, ue
Copy the recording sheet for each student. They will roll the dice and then create the word using the beginning sound and the given word family.
An option is to also use the activity dice games at the back of the packet. They will roll the dice again and then do an activity with the words from their word family dice game. (Activities include multi-sensory practice such as making their words with pipe cleaners or creating a rap or song with their words).
